Why are infants not supposed to eat honey? Pat – Atlanta

Infants lack the gut flora and stomach acid to protect them from Infant Botulism.  After they reach one year old, they start to produce stomach acid and their guts have grown enough good bacteria to protect them from traces of bacteria that could cause potentially fatal food poisoning.
